60 is the new 50. Retirees are no longer getting ready to think about choosing a rest home. Instead, they are seeking out retirement communities that rival vacation resorts and cater to their unique passions, from arts classes and hippie hangouts to partying until dawn.

In this film we follow one couple, Deb and Ron, as they are setting out to explore how they want to spend the next chapter in their lives. Active and outgoing Zoomers, they are itching to get on the road and see what kind of locale might be a good fit for them. From moving to a foreign country and learning a new language to potentially swapping their urban life for a more rural setting – everything is on the table.

From the picturesque artsy town of San Miguel d’Allende in Mexico, onto the lush greenery of the sustainable community of Serenbe in Georgia and even considering a cruise ship in the Bahamas – Ron and Deb take a wild ride across the continent. They meet retired snowbirds and intrepid travelers, emigrants and seniors permanently embarked on a cruise liner. Will any of these opportunities be a good fit for Deb and Ron?

Adventures in Retirement was directed by Stephanie Weimar and Laura Bombier and produced by Ann Shin, Stephanie Weimar, and Hannah Donegan of Fathom Film Group in association with ZoomerMedia Limited.
